You're a good person, Robert.
Because when you see injustice, you don't ignore it or give up in despair. You demand change.
And you belong to a movement of seven million other people also committed to protecting people wherever justice or dignity are denied.
Just take a look at what we've achieved together in the past few weeks: |
|
| Brishna is being supported by Women for Afghan Women, who report that her family is standing with her and have guaranteed her safety. Her rapist received a 20-year prison sentence in what is being regarded a milestone case for women's rights. Your actions sent a powerful message to the Afghan government and helped protect this 10-year old girl. |
|
| Thanks to your activism, Shahin and Bakhtiyar, who went to prison for creating a Facebook event, have been pardoned by the Azerbaijani government. They have returned to their families, but we will keep fighting until the remaining six N!DA activists are also free. These boys deserve an impartial investigation into the allegations of torture. Please get your friends, family and co-workers to take action online >> |

| You'll get to help us hold New Zealand to its campaign promises and ensure it has an effective term, promoting and protecting human rights at home and in the region. Read more >> |
|
| Education activist and Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience, Malala, has been jointly awarded the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize along with children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi. She has donated her winnings to help rebuild schools in war-ravaged Gaza. |
|
| We successfully campaigned for Nasrin's release last year and have even more good news! Despite initial threats of having her licence to practise law revoked, Nasrin received a full pardon from the Iranian authorities and can resume her important work as a human rights lawyer in Iran. |

Together we are powerful.
Thank you for all that you do,
