Reason vs. Faith, Knowledge vs. Religion
I think that most religious believers will agree that what is good for humanity depends upon understanding reality and human nature — the Catholic Church, for examples, bases a lot of its claims about what is and is not moral on what it thinks is human nature. Put another way, some claim about what is good for humanity cannot possibly be true if it is based entirely upon incorrect and false ideas about reality and/or what it means to be a human being.

Objectification and Evangelization
Proselytization is central to the religious faith of many evangelical Christians - they will 'share' their beliefs with anyone they come across if they are given half a chance. They believe they are doing a good deed, which is hardly surprising given that at the very least they think their religion is necessary to achieve eternal salvation.
