The historic Arms Trade Treaty comes into force today!
Dear Rbobert -
The Arms Trade Treaty comes into force 24 Dec 2014
No matter what holiday you're celebrating this season, something we can all celebrate in unison today is the historic Arms Trade Treaty coming into force! Some mocked the idea of regulating the international arms trade as an impossible feat. But two decades later, the treaty is now a legally binding reality: a testament to your hard work, creativity and sheer determination. Thank you to everyone who made this dream possible!

Here's more great news to wrap 2014 up with:
Two N!DA Activists Freed!
Our annual letter-writing marathon was a great success, with 1,750,000 letters (and counting!) written by Amnesty International supporters around the world!
Youth Activism projects raise awareness
Activism and creativity are well and truly alive among our younger supporters. The Berkley Normal Middle School group made tree-shaped refugee tents to raise awareness about the issues and conditions refugees face, while Hillcrest High School's group created the cleverly named "Amnes-tree" to symbolise the power of collective voices in making a positive change for human rights. Well done!
Executive Director Grant Bayldon joined a high-level mission to raise awareness of torture in the Philippines
With your support, we exposed the Philippines' dirty secret - torture. Our Executive Director Grant Bayldon personally delivered our latest report Above the Law to the Philippines police chiefs, Secretary of Justice, two key Senators, and other officials this month. The report examines more than 50 testimonies of torture - 20 of which were from children.
